The Cove, Nelly Bay
Set over two levels and orientated to the north-east on the marina at Magnetic Island, this home was driven by creative vision through Lysa Thompson, Design and Drafting. Position designed to maximise the stunning sea and mountain views of Magnetic Island and the distant Townsville lights.
The client’s flare for design and desire for entertainment drove them to create their home where the choice of living spaces seem endless, both indoors and out. The home maximises on the sea breeze throughout the entire house, using the orientation, window, louvres and a second level void to catch all air flow.
The modernist lines of this home greet you at the front with a striking blend of lineal lines created from the Cementel cladding which has the added benefit of bearing no maintenance. Continuity is pleasing to the eye - here it has been achieved with neutral floors and seamless transition between internal and external spaces. The polished cushion edged tiles give the striking appearance and durability desired by the owners. While the open rise timber stairs provide the contrast needed to achieve this timeless elegance.
The kitchen, a focal point in this household, is the heart for entertainment. Modern smooth lines and integrated cabinetry creates a backdrop to the stunning water views. The owners entertain a large group of family and friends, therefore, the kitchen is designed for ease of work flow incorporating butler’s pantry. An island bench decked in Caesar stone is a standout element with its glass fronted feature. This island bench transforms from a work bench to an entertainer’s delight. The splash backs are mirrored, reflecting the gorgeous marina views of Magnetic Island, adding another sleek element to the space. The dining area, overlooked by the high gloss kitchen, leads out through custom made glass stacker doors to flawlessly merge the indoor and outdoor living areas.
The deck seamlessly flows out to meet the luxurious lap pool and boasts another entertainment area and BBQ. The infinity pool is bordered by a glass balustrade to provide arresting impact which encompasses the magical views of the marina.
On this lower level, the home also has a swagger of other features including a powder room, laundry, media room, dining area and separate bedroom. This bedroom has an added functional feature of being locked off from the house with its own private access. This enables the clients to use their home for an external hire if they wish to.
Situated on the second floor, the main bedroom is drenched in natural light which streams through the glass doors of its own private veranda. This enhances the sense of space and maximises views. The luxurious ensuite shows ingenious use of space and boasts a double vanity, shower and resort style bath.
The upper level also boasts another two bedrooms cleverly integrated to assist visitors with young children, main bathroom and a sitting room. The sitting room encompasses the air flow void lined with stainless steel balustrade and rope LED lighting. It also has the added convenience of doubling up as a toy room or extra sleeping area with wardrobe fold out beds.
This dream home was constructed to utilise every aspect this first class block had to offer.
